Double Page Spread (evaluation)

This is my double page spread of 'Underground' magazine. Its an interview with Kris Lane out of a band called 'Moon Cats', asking about his music life and personal life. I feel the pictures i have used reflect the interview very well as they are showing his passion and his fun side. I chose the quote which i thought stood out most in the interview and made it in bigger letters to attract readers when they are flicking through the magazine. I put the name of the magazine and the date in the top corners to make the magazine seem more realistic. I am happy with the way my double page spread has turned out and think the images and interview will attract readers and i feel my magazine would be easy for people to connect to.

Contents Page (evaluation)

On the left is my first attempt of my contents page and the bottom right is my final. I was really pleased with the way it turned out, but I had to change the images on the bottom of the page as they were copy right. I was really pleased with how my recreated images looked on the magazine as i think they fitted in better with my target audience.

Front cover (evaluation)

This is my final cover for my magazine 'Underground'. I feel i have improved a lot since doing the prelimanary task. My magazine now looks a lot more professional. I wanted my front image to be more natural and not posed and i think i caught that quite well by having one person looking at the camera and the other looking down. I used red and white as my main colour themes as the red is bold and will attract people and the white calms it down to make it not seem as dramatic. I love the size of the magazine because its perfect to fit in your handbag and will attract to females as they like to have i with them when they are out. Overall im very happy with the way my front cover looks as it seems realistic.

Planning

This was a rough plan giving me a vague idea of what i wanted on my front cover and how it will be set out. I only use one image on my front cover as i felt my prelimanary task had too many pictures on the front and felt more like a television magazine.

This is my mood board, which is showing what indie rock is about and what my target audience would get up to, and how they like to spend their money.

This is my deconstruction of an image of my typical indie rock magazine reader. Its an image i cut out of a fashion magazine, just by looking at them you can see that they like rock music by the hair styles and clothing worn.

My Prelimanary task

This is my prelimanary task. I had to create a magazine front cover for either a school or a certain year group. I chose to do mine on 6th form in general. From doing this task before the final cover i feel that i have improved on my skills and gained much more knowledge. If i was to re-do my prelimanary task i would use more realistic colors for the central image, i would also use more bold and attractive fonts as the fonts i have used look too Microsoft word processed.

Introduction

Hey, im Amanda.
My magazine is called 'Underground'
It's about Indie Rock, a mixture of the signed and unsigned artists of this genre.

My Target Audience
Like Kerrang, i have aimed my magazine around the same age group and aimed it for age's 15-25 years. I have aimed it at both males and females, but i have tried to give the indie rock image more of a girl approach and made my magazine more of a handbag size. I have done this because i noticed that most Rock magazines seem to target at males and i wanted to change that approach.
